Taller de Altas Energías (TAE 2013)

The Taller de Altas Energías (TAE) is a yearly workshop aimed at completing the education of first and second year graduated students who are starting their research on experimental/theoretical high energy physics, astroparticles and cosmology. The program of the workshop combines courses delivered by international experts and individual work supervised by tutors. Lectures will be delivered in the mornings, whereas tutorials and more specific seminars will be reserved for the afternoons. Students will work through the solutions of problems proposed by senior lectures with the help of tutors. All students are encouraged to present and discuss their work during the second week of the school.

The 2013 edition will take place at Centro de Ciencias de Benasque Pedro Pascual between September 15 and September 28. It is supported by CPAN, Red de Física de Partículas, and Centro de Ciencias de Benasque Pedro Pascual.

Application is now open.

Summer Student Program at GSI

During the summer months of 2013, HGS-HIRe and GSI organise a Summer Student Program which is offered to a limited number of students in physics or related natural science disciplines from Europe or GSI/FAIR partner countries.

GSI, the German research center for heavy-ion physics, is one of the world's leading accelerator laboratories for basic research with accelerated ions. In cooperation with an international research community the existing accelerator complex will be significantly extended by a new Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR). The center provides unique research opportunities for investigations in the fields of hadronic and nuclear physics, nuclear astrophysics, atomic, laser, and plasma physics, materials science, and biophysics with applications to cancer therapy, new accelerator developments and radiation safety.

The Summer Student Program is organized under the leadership of HGS-HIRe - the Graduate Program of GSI with its partner universities.

The application period for the 2013 program is now closed.

DESY Summer Students

Each summer, DESY, one of the world's leading accelerator centres, offers undergraduate students in physics or related natural science disciplines the possibility to participate in the research activities of the laboratory. In 2013 the program takes place from July 16 to September 05.

Selected candidates join in the day-to-day work of research groups at the DESY Laboratory in Hamburg or Zeuthen (Berlin) and participate in one of these activities. While the work in the groups is the main activity, there will also be a series of lectures (given in English) related to the research done at DESY. Visits to the accelerators and experiments are also included in this programme.

The aplication is now closed.

Joint Universities Accelerator School (JUAS)

It was to meet the Europe-wide demand for a foundation course on accelerator physics and associated technologies that JUAS was created in 1994 under the patronage of CERN the European Organization for Nuclear Research and CLUSTER, a European network of 12 Universities of Science and Technology. Today JUAS offers an intensive programme for students and modular courses for professionals. The School is sponsored by major European Laboratories and Institutes, CPAN among them.

The two five-week courses taught by Europe's accelerator specialists covers Sciences and Physics of Particle Accelerators and Technologies and Applications of Particle Accelerators.

Registration is closed.
